This page describes how Mure (mure.moe) collects, uses, and stores information. It's written in plain language on purpose, if anything here is unclear, use the contact info on the home page bottom left and ask.
Information we collect
When you make an account, we store your username, a securely hashed version of your password (never the password itself), and whatever profile details you choose to add, such as; display name, about-me text, mood/status, profile song link, theme preference, and avatar/banner images.
We also store the content you create: threads, replies, feed posts, comments, blog/diary entries, private messages, guestbook entries, reactions, friend connections, and any images you attach to them.
Cookies
Mure uses one cookie, "mure_token", to keep you logged in. It's a security token, not a tracking cookie, and it isn't and won't be shared with anyone. Any analytics or advertising scripts is not run at the moment. If that changes in the future (for example, if ads are added), this page will be updated first, and any tracking cookies will only load with the consent required in your region.
Visibility controls
Some content has visibility settings you control directly — blog/diary entries can be set to public, friends-only, or just yourself, and you can change that at any time from the entry itself. Private messages are only ever visible to you and the other person in the conversation, noone else.
How we use this information
Purely to run the site: showing your content to the right people, keeping you logged in, sending you notifications (like unread messages or friend requests) within the site, and letting other members find and interact with you. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with third parties beyond what's needed to host the site (currently Railway, our hosting and database provider).
Uploaded images
Images you upload (avatars, banners, post/thread attachments) are stored directly in mure's database and served back only through the site itself.
Children's privacy
Mure isn't intended for children under 13, and accounts shouldn't be created by anyone under that age.
User-Generated content
User generated content is out of the jurisdiction of the site owner. Users are responsible to report any and all inappropriate action to the moderation team.
Your choices
You can edit or delete most of your own content directly from the site. If you'd like your account fully deleted or want to ask anything else about your data, reach out via the contact info on the home page.
Changes to this policy
If how Mure handles data changes meaningfully (like adding advertising or analytics), this page will be updated to reflect that before the change goes live.
